FROM FIRST-GENTO BILLION-DOLLAR DEALS:What Happens When You Underestimate Alexis
At its core, the Executive Club is a community where young leaders can evolve, connect, and celebrate one another’s wins. This essence is captured through the stories and experiences of our members, and it is seen in who they were before—and told through who they have become.
Alexis Pyle’s journey illustrates this spirit of ambition and growth. Driven by a love for travelling, connecting with people from different backgrounds, and a desire to seek inspiration in all places, Alexis found the Executive Club at a pivotal time.
The Florida native moved to North Carolina at 17 years old and attended NC State University as a first-generation college student. There, she earned her degree in Supply Chain and Operations Management and went on to secure a job at Volvo Group. With little experience upon entering her role, Alexis struggled with the fear of being underestimated.
“Working in automotive, especially in my function, means I’m usually one of the only women in the room, and almost always the youngest,” Alexis shared. “I’m surrounded by men with decades of experience. I know some people make assumptions when they see me: young, blonde, probably not the one calling the shots.”
Despite these barriers, her determination brought her to new heights, and Alexis quickly moved up the chain of command at Volvo. This led her to the most challenging and rewarding task of her career: renegotiating the contract of an essential supply partner. What followed was two years of global strategy calls, executive level presentations, and endless back and forth. The partnership was a vital one, and Alexis was tasked with keeping it alive—while also reshaping it on her company’s terms. Now, after two busy years of negotiations, she landed a remarkable four-year, billion-dollar deal.
“I didn’t grow up with a blueprint,” Alexis recalled. “I knew I wanted more for my life. I wanted to travel, experience the world, and build a life on my own terms—so I pushed hard on myself to make it count.”
Often the youngest and only woman in the room, Alexis has faced many subtle and overt challenges, using them as fuel to find her voice and be seen for who she is—not who she was told to become.
“I’ve learned how to hold my ground, speak with intention, and make sure I’m heard, even if I have to push a little harder to get there,” she said.
Now, in the Executive Club, she is surrounded by both men and women alike who share her mindset and listen to her experiences. She found a space where others are in a similar stage and encourage her to think bigger. She is the architect of her own path, has learned how to command the spaces which she enters—and is closer to the life she’s always dreamed of.
“For me, success is having nothing I need to do—just peace, freedom, and full control of my time. My definition of success has definitely changed over time,” Alexis said. “It used to be more about status and materialistic things, but now, I just want to build a life that feels good to me.”
With a taste of the success she always dreamed of, Alexis is ready to reach new heights. Through new faces, new spaces, and meaningful new connections, she is walking into rooms her truest self: empowered, headstrong, and excited to take her seat at the table.
“Being yourself is the best thing you can do and if people aren’t receptive to it then they aren’t for you,” Alexis shared. “I don’t need to rush to have this great life, it’s about enjoying the journey and being grateful.”
